About Us - Meet Our Team

As a physician from Taiwan, Benjamin came to Houston in 2003 and worked at Texas Medical Center. In 2008, he joined a well-known school, the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM) as a part time faculty member, teaching Western medicine classes. Over a three-year period, he had an opportunity to learn more about Chinese Medicine. Being very interested in what he had learned, Benjamin decided to change his status from faculty to student. This was the beginning of his journey into Chinese Medicine. After 4 years of school, he gained a Master Degree of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (MAOM), and became a Licensed Acupuncturist under Texas Medical Board, as well as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine under the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

Having a background in Western medicine allows Benjamin to better understand his patient’s ailments from both a Western and Chinese medical perspective. Benjamin’s knowledge of both worlds helps him provide more effective treatments for all of his patients.

Through his years of experience, Benjamin has seen patients benefit by combining the healing power of Chinese medicine with treatment from the contemporary Western medicine. As a result of Benjamin’s passion to introduce more people to the benefits of Chinese medicine, he has founded this new clinic, ACU4U Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, located in the Texas Medical Center.

Benjamin’s goal is to provide convenient and effective treatments for the TMC physicians, healthcare staff, employees and their patients, as well as families from the surrounding areas.

Dr. Irina Patten was born in Ukraine where she was exposed to natural medicine in early childhood.  She received two Master’s degrees from Chernivtsi University, before moving to the United States where she has served as a faculty member at Lone Star College for approximately 15 years. After graduating from the American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with honors (Summa Cum Laude and the valedictorian of her class), she continued furthering her education. She has completed countless continuing education hours in TCM and Functional Medicine (FM) so that she could utilize the most effective and cutting-edge methods to care for her patients and empower them to make the best choices for their health.
